Honors 394:
|
This was undoubtedly one of my favorite courses at UW, as I thoroughly enjoyed the subject matter, the professor, and the other students. Although we had lots of daunting reading assignments, our discussions of various borderlands were very thought-provoking, and I found many of the borderlands concepts (such as alterity/otherness, Manicheaism, "cultural hegemony," "third spaces," and "third eye" experiences) to be relevant to my constant struggle to define my own identity. In addition, these ideas furthered my skeptical examination of the legitimacy of knowledge production and the role of institutionalization in producing "truth" and creating certain social dynamics and group distinctions.
